Phobia

A phobia is an intense and persistent fear that may seem irrational, but which has a very real impact on the life of the person experiencing it. We all feel fear, it is a natural emotion, but when that fear becomes so overwhelming that it limits you, preventing you from doing things you want or need to do, then that fear takes the shape of a phobia.

Phobias can manifest in many different ways: you might be afraid of flying, of insects or of open spaces; or you may feel paralysed by the fear of being in social situations or in places where you believe you would not be able to escape easily. Every phobia is unique, just as the person experiencing it is unique.

I know that living with a phobia can be exhausting. It can lead you to avoid moments, places or people who are important to you, leaving you feeling isolated or frustrated. But avoiding fear often only serves to feed it, making it stronger.

In my work as a psychotherapist, I will not ask you to face everything all at once or to force yourself. Together, step by step, we will explore what triggers that fear, how it shows up in your body and mind, and we will build a safe path to help you regain control of your life. You will learn to look at your fear with kindness and to discover that you are stronger than you thought.

A phobia is not a sign of weakness, but a message your body and mind are sending you: something that needs to be listened to, understood and gently supported. And it can be done.
