Addictions – When the need takes over

Addictions

Addictions are not just about substances. Sometimes, they take the familiar face of food you use to fill an inner void, of gambling that promises a thrill you cannot find elsewhere or of shopping that offers a fleeting moment of euphoria that fades too quickly.
They can hide behind hours spent online, the endless scrolling of social media, the constant need for approval, attention, presence. Even in a relationship you know is not good for you, but you just cannot walk away from.

It is that inner voice whispering, “I cannot help it,” even when another part of you knows all too well that you are hurting yourself.
Often, addiction is not the real problem, but a desperate attempt to manage something deeper: pain, anxiety, loneliness. You drink to forget. You eat to find comfort. You scroll to avoid the emptiness.
At first, it seems to work. But then you find yourself more alone, more exhausted, more at odds with yourself.

In psychotherapy, we will not just work on the symptom, you will learn to care for what lies beneath it. I will help you explore the needs, emotions, and thoughts that fuel the addiction. To find new ways of coping with difficulties. To regain balance, freedom, presence.

With the right support, taking back control of your life is possible. And you do not have to do it alone.
