EMDR

There are experiences that, even after many years, continue to hurt us. Sometimes all it takes is a memory, a sentence, a similar situation… and we find ourselves with our heart in our throat, frozen, as if that moment had never truly passed.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an internationally recognised psychotherapeutic approach, specifically designed to address and overcome these kinds of experiences. It has been successfully used to treat trauma, grief, anxiety, phobias, stress and difficult events from the past or present.

Imagine your brain as an archive: every experience is processed and “filed away.” But if something hits us too hard, that information remains stuck, as if the brain could not complete the process. EMDR helps to “reactivate the brain’s natural processing system”.

Through bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, alternating sounds or rhythmic tapping, the therapist guides you to gradually and safely access painful memories. Not to relive them, but to allow your mind to “put them in order”, finally letting them go.

The memory is not erased, but it loses the emotional charge that caused you pain. Emotions like fear, shame, anger or guilt begin to fade. And in their place, calm, clarity, and relief often emerge…

The effectiveness of EMDR is supported by decades of scientific research: neurobiological studies show how bilateral stimulation activates brain areas related to memory and emotional processing, facilitating a true inner transformation.

Each EMDR journey is personalised, respecting your own pace and your boundaries. As a therapist, I accompany you step by step, gently and without pressure, helping you release what has remained stuck.

If you feel that something inside you needs space, attention and care, EMDR can be a good place to start.
